We moved our family from San Mateo to the Napa Valley in 1990 after visiting the area for 15 years. After ten years of raising our two children and completing the never-ending home remodel, we planted our first vineyard. Wine production started in 1999 with purchased and donated grapes then in 2003 we produced our first blend of Cabernet, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
The first vineyard, in 2000, was planted with 55% Cabernet, 30% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. Initially, all the varietals were produced and bottled individually. Around 2008, we realized a field blend of the three varietals worked well and saved us a lot of work keeping the varietals separated. The vineyard was removed and replanted in 2017 which gave us a chance to refine our choice of varietals. Being on the valley floor in the Yountville Appellation, Cabernet grapes do very well so we planted two clones of Cabernet Sauvignon and elected to also plant a small section of Sauvignon blanc to satisfy the white wine palates.
Since we started making wine, we have produced a Zinfandel. Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon blanc. Currently, we are focused on producing Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon blanc. We are considering adding Viognier from my brother's vineyard, located in the Oak Knoll Appellation in 2025. Our wines have won several awards, including "Best of Show" at the Napa Home Winemaker's Classic in 2020.
